The Phone Of The Wind


The 2011 earthquake and ensuing tsunami in Japan resulted in the loss of more than 15,000 lives. Grieving survivors have found a unique way of coping with their loss. A phone booth overlooking the Ocean in Otsuchi, Japan allows the living to call their dead relatives and loved ones. The disconnected rotary phone positioned inside a glass booth encourages callers to send verbal messages to those they’ve lost, which the wind then carries away.
